Summary

This course is designed for parents, carers, families and teachers of children with ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Aspergers or other challenging behaviours wishing to develop behavioural management plans. It is a hands on, interactive learning course where specific behaviours and strategies are worked through to a personalised action plan. The Kit includes the tools to develop a working behaviour management program that can be implemented immediately.

The course covers the following topics and their application in relation to each child:

The child’s challenging behaviours, including present techniques and outcomes;
Recognising and strategising the activities, characteristics and stimuli that impact a child’s behaviour;
What needs to be established before starting to manage the child;
Management and strategies to implement for discipline and dealing with outbursts;
How to apply the keys to both the child’s behaviour and the behaviour management plan;
Balancing the child’s strengths and weaknesses.

Participants then have the opportunity to combine knowledge, understanding and practical approaches in the establishment of a holistic teaching and behavioural management program for the identified child.

Course Outcome

This course is designed to provide participants with a greater understanding of the issues that impact the child’s behaviour and learning. It offers alternative teaching and behaviour intervention strategies and tools as well as the process and considerations necessary for the establishment of a practical and workable behaviour management plan. The Kit includes the tools to determine the goals for their environment as well as a working behaviour management plan for each child.
